The past year or so, I’ve really lost touch in certain ways with the things that really excite and thrill me. The past month, I’ve had more time to reconnect and rediscover those things that I love so much. Today I had coffee with a friend of mine that is SUPER intuitive - I LOVE playing around with all that intuitive stuff, doing practice readings etc. I listened to her speaking French and realized HOW MUCH I’ve missed practicing other languages. After she left I went exploring the neighborhood and found the cutest little coffee shop - turns out it was the opening day and the owners were French! I got to listen to French, read a French magazine that was lying around and enjoy free cookies one of the French employees gave me! Ooo-la-la!
My friend also knew of a great place for me to take belly dancing (oh, I knew she would!) and after I left the French coffee shop, I happened to drive by the flamenco studio where I used to take lessons. So I think it may be time for me to dust off the old flamenco shoes too!
All of this has been SUCH a great lesson in how important it is to always take time to discover and rediscover all the things that make you uniquely you no matter how busy you are!

I’ve had this book on my bookshelf for a LONG time. I’ve glanced through it before, liked it enough to keep it, but not enough to read the whole thing. Considering my new quantum leap goal, I decided I should really read it. You know, I CAN’T BELIEVE I didn’t love it before. Well, yes, actually I can because I had no interest really in the “secrets of the millionaire mind” before, but now I find the book totally fascinating. I think the idea of “managing” money regardless of how much you actually have is brilliant. I think I thought “well, when I have a lot of money, I’ll learn to manage it.” He said that’s like saying “When I lose 20 lbs, I’ll learn to eat well and exercise.” There are sooooo many little gems in this book - I’m sure I’ll write about more of them in future posts - that are slowly changing my perceptions about money and wealth in very positive ways….here’s to quantum leaping!!!

I like to think I have an adventurous spirit - I’ve traveled a lot, lived in other countries, quit jobs with out having another one lined up - but strangely enough I think in some ways I’ve played it very safe. Each of us has areas in our life where we enjoy taking risks - for me taking the above kind of risks can be exhilarating and fun - but other types of risks feel, well, riskier.
I think the place where I have tended to “play it safe” is when I’m wanting to play really big. I’ve tended to hide my light and not want to share how big I’d really like to play. So today in sharing my quantum leap goal with everyone and being very open, it feels like I’m embracing a new type of exciting, exhilarating risk! In The Secret, Jack Canfield talks about his quantum leap goal which was going from earning $8,000/year to $100,000/year. I decided that if Jack can do that, I can do it too! So my quantum leap goal is to earn $250,000 this year doing work that fulfills me and serves the planet! Crazy, wild, seemingly unattainable, scary and totally overwhelming, but it wouldn’t be a quantum leap goal if it didn’t make me feel that way!
And strangely, I’m really starting to believe that it will happen - why? Because of the huge shifts taking place in my life. All of a sudden I have more time to work towards this goal. All of a sudden I can see where I was not letting my light fully shine. All of a sudden I have been reconnected with a new level of joy and creativity and excitement about life. Making a quantum leap goal, as opposed to a “regular” goal, is that you don’t necessarily have to change that much to achieve it. A quantum leap goal means that everything that is not working in your life must shift, and sometimes quickly. Everything in your life must support this higher vision/version of yourself. I believe this is the reason that people resist change or resist leaving the comfort zone.
In what areas are you comfortable taking risks? In what areas are you afraid to leave the comfort zone?

Ha ha! Well, you can see from my previous post what I’ve been doing the last couple weeks - still thinking about what to write about! But finally I have found inspiration!
Today, I’m inspired to write about making a “quantum leap” goal or making a big commitment to a class or new goal. I have found that when making big new declarations or commitments, change can happen very quickly in your life. Recently, as I’ve been working on my quantum leap goal (details coming in a post soon!) I was dragging my feet a little bit because I could feel that this would mean big changes in my life. As much as I’m a lover of positive change and forward movement, I could feel that somehow this wouldn’t be such a fun shift. And wow, have I had some shifting go on in my life recently. It is interesting to see how something that seems to have nothing to do with my career goals has done two things: first, it has opened up time and space for me to work towards my goals. Second, it has shown me that this part of my life, in its current form, was in someway not supporting big quantum leaps in my life. So it means that this part of my life now has to shift in a way that supports my growth or it simply doesn’t come back. THIS is the whole reason change is scary. When you go after big goals and big dreams, shifts have to happen to get you out of the comfort zone. The shifts can be easy and fun or other times a little big harder to swallow.
Being the optimist that I am, I feel that this shift shows that big positive changes are happening in my life (even though it may not appear that way at the moment) and that my inner guidance system is making sure that my life is perfectly on track.
